Overview
Important Notes Before Travelling
• I flew to Kansai International Airport (KIX) from Manila, Philippines. The flight took about four hours.
• I used the JR Pass to travel from KIX to Kyoto Station by Haruka Express train. The journey took about 75 minutes.
• I stayed at a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) near Kyoto Station. The ryokan offered a comfortable and authentic accommodation with tatami mats, futons, and hot spring baths.
• I used public transportation (buses, trains, subways) to get around Kyoto. I also rented a bicycle for one day to explore the Arashiyama area.
