Important Notes Before Travelling

  • • To get to Vientiane, you can fly to Wattay International Airport, take a bus from Thailand or Vietnam, or cross the Friendship Bridge from Nong Khai.

  • • The official currency is Lao kip, but Thai baht and US dollars are widely accepted. You can exchange money at banks or money changers, or withdraw cash from ATMs.

  • • The main mode of transport is tuk-tuk, which can be hailed on the street or arranged by your hotel. You can also rent a bicycle or a motorbike to explore the city on your own.

  • • The best time to visit is from November to February, when the weather is dry and cool. Avoid the hot season from March to May, and the rainy season from June to October.
