I’ve created several day trip options for Mount Fuji, but to be clear : they’re all one-day itineraries with different themes or routes. You can mix and match them depending on your interests, or even turn them into a 2- or 3-day trip if you want to explore more slowly. The spots I’ve recommended work great for either a quick visit or a longer stay!

📍 Before You Go: Check the weather one or two days in advance. If rain is expected, it's best to reschedule the visit.

🚆 How to Get There?

From Tokyo: Take the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku Station to Otsuki Station.
Then: Transfer to the Fujikyuko Line (not covered by the JR Pass) to Shimoyoshida Station.
Alternative: A direct bus from Shinjuku Station to Kawaguchiko Station is also available.
Booking: It's highly recommended to book your ticket at least a day before at Shinjuku Station.

💡 Tip: Renting a bicycle is a great option to explore at your own pace:

🚲 Standard bike: 1,500 JPY per day

🚲 Electric bike: 2,600 JPY per day

🚦🕰️ Important Note on Transportation Around Mt. Fuji / Kawaguchiko Area

The trains between Fujikyu stations, including Kawaguchiko, Shimoyoshida (for Chureito Pagoda), and Fuji-Q Highland, can be infrequent, sometimes running only once per hour depending on the time of day.

🚨 My advice:

Decide in advance the order of your visit for the day.

It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to do everything in one day, so choose your top priorities and pace yourself.

Always check train or bus schedules before heading to the next place:

Check the timetable boards in the station or bus stops

Or use apps like Google Maps, Navitime, or Hyperdia to check real-time departures

📌 This will help you avoid waiting 40–50 minutes for the next train or bus, which is common if you don’t plan ahead.

💡 Buses generally complement the train routes well, so you’ll always be able to reach your next stop — but a bit of organization goes a long way!
